Overview of the event

The Blockchain Day 2018 will be happening on July 13th 2018 Bangalore. The Blockchain Conference 2018 will bring together a diverse range of experts who will discuss all the opportunities, challenges and exciting possibilities in innovation and disruption that can be leveraged in Bangalore using this technology.

National banks and regulators, exchanges and investment banks across the world are taking seriously the financial innovation of distributed ledger or block chain technology. The block chain, aka Trust Machine underpins "crypto currencies" such as Bitcoin; but it goes beyond digital money. It provides a shared, trusted, public ledger that everyone can inspect, but no single user controls. It is at the cusp of revolutionising international money transfers, trade finance, syndicated lending and collateral management, among other applications. As it allows for almost instantaneous payments and settlement, the potential impact on the role of traders, quants and other financial technologists cannot be underestimated.

The event features an inspiring day of talks and workshops by professional speakers focused on Blockchain technology and Innovation.

This conference brings together Block Chain technologists in the finance sector, regulators, industry commentators, computer science researchers and others involved in financial innovation; these experts explore some of the technology and the many applications of Block chain in Financial Services.

X Topic Abstract

Blockchain has been around for almost a decade now. What will the next decade bring? No one knows for sure, but there is one certainty - many challenges along the way. Chief amongst them is the challenge of scalability: how can blockchain technology be effectively applied in industries as different as insurance and gaming? And how can public blockchain platforms support a comprehensive ecosystem when even the mighty Ethereum network was shut down by CryptoKitties? Achain has the answer to these questions and many more!

Bitcoin smart contracts are called custom contracts. These are complex to write and implement. Ethereum smart contracts and Hyperledger smart contracts require complex programming and maintenance.
Currently smart contracts are popularly used for crypto currency, insurance, supply chain etc. However it is not used in many domains like device control, coupon control, financial instruments control.
We can create Bitcoin smart contracts without being too complex. This has many applications where blockchain is not currently used..
Examples will be shown on how it is done.

X Topic Abstract

A blockchain simply records data in chronological order. The difference is the data is never stored centrally but it's distributed across multiple computer networks around the world. And because the data is distributed no one party can ever make any changes so it becomes immutable. This makes it ideal for digital currencies such the famous Bitcoin but it's not all about banking. The list of uses is growing and diversifying and the potential for retail is huge starting with protecting consumers from fraudulent transactions. It creates a permanent record of a product's journey from supplier to customer so it can prove origin and authenticity while improving visibility on the supply chain. Blockchain offers the possibility of recording all purchase transactions so warrantee is easier to track. For customer loyalty,Blockchain can record loyalty points for awards schemes. Blockchain provides a better customer experience and for retailers it streamlines the exchange of information. For retail, blockchain is likely to be a part of a product's whole life cycle even through to tracking new owners in the case of a resale. Some say blockchain will disrupt retail the same way online shopping did, it may be very bold statement but quite possible

X Topic abstract

One of the current limitations of Blockchain technology, specifically smart contracts, is their lack of access to external data sources. This limitation is intrinsic of smart contracts because to approve each block-chain block validity, all mining nodes should get the same results from the data source, which will not be the case for fast changing data (e.g. stock prices). Hence, smart contracts are restricted to the blockchain virtual machine. In his talk, Aman demonstrates how this limitation can be overcome by using Oracles which push data to smart contracts, effectively allowing them to access external data. Apart from a theoretical explanation of how Oracles work, he will also demonstrate a sample Oracle based smart contract in action.

X Topic abstract

Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things constitute most of today’s discourse on technological advancements. While these technologies, by themselves, are causing a lot of disruption in several fields, there is very little discussion about the biggest disruption that is coming our way: the force multiplier effect due to the convergence of these technologies, resulting in combinatorial evolution.
This presentation talks about how AI, Blockchain and IoT are starting to come together, their possible interaction effects, and the massive impact they are going to cause over the next 3 to 5 years. Old orders will break down faster than ever before, and new orders will come up swiftly. Additionally, the ever increasing data deluge is going to make things more interesting. These technologies will add to one another’s strengths and, to a certain extent, fill one another’s gaps as well.
This technological convergence will not only disrupt industries like banking & financial services, ecommerce, healthcare and manufacturing (where such technologies have traditionally been deployed), but also impact new ones and help to solve some of the biggest global challenges of mankind. The current state of play is still in its formative years, but as these technologies mature and new use cases get developed, the impact is going to be really huge.
This presentation is based on global research and development being carried out in these three fields, and is an attempt to bring to focus a major disruption coming our way that doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves.
