Containers and container orchestrators have fundamentally changed the way we look at distributed systems. When in the past developers had to build these systems nearly from scratch, resulting in each architecture be sort of unique and not repeatable, we now have infrastructure and interface elements for designing and deploying services and application on distributed systems using reusable patterns for micro-service architectures and containerized components.
This session describes implementation design patterns for deployment of containerized applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) that meet requirements for availability, reliability and scalability. Among the patterns presented, along with practical code samples for AKS, there is Replicated Load-Balanced Services, Sharded Services and the Scatter Gather pattern.

Stefano Tempesta is a Microsoft RD (Regional Director), triple MVP on Azure, AI and Business Applications, and member of the Blockchain Council. A regular speaker at international IT conferences, including Microsoft Ignite and Tech Summit, Stefano’s interests extend to blockchain and AI-related technologies. He created “Blogchain Space” (, a blog about blockchain technologies, writes for MSDN Magazine and MS Dynamics World, and publishes Machine Learning experiments on the Azure AI Gallery.

He brings in a wealth of experience by working internationally across US, Australia and India for more than 15 years. He has worked for enterprise companies like JP Morgan & Chase, Walmart and Telstra. He specializes in migration and transformation projects from legacy (on-prem) to modern micro-service based architecture in Cloud. He has extensive experience working in AWS, Azure and GCP. He loves to blog about his technical encounters in his personal blog. He also loves to share his knowledge with others. More than a profession, Technology is a passion for him.

DESCRIPTION - New analysts and engineers often have misconception that Testing has no broader scope and it is just confined to manual stuff. Most people think that testing is an easiest stream which can be achieved with minimum domain knowledge and almost no technical knowledge. However, both Manual and Automation testing involves a lots of effort combining your domain and technical knowledge. We will walk through examples that illustrates how to be creative with functional and regression testing, make your approach efficient to achieve high quality test results by automating your potential test scripts.

ABSTRACT - The three main attributes of Automation testing are reliability, efficiency and reusability. Most companies follow 2 weeks sprint which is a mature agile model. Manual testing gets really laborious in such fast paced environment. Agile has always been about achieving better outcomes faster; hence automation testing plays an important role for business to maximise the effectiveness of agile delivery. We’ll dive into some best practices I’ve extracted from working on multiple real- time test automation projects, finding best automation tools, defining the scope of automation vs manual efforts and most important the measure of success. With my experience, I have seen clients and projects achieving significant difference in manual efforts and reduced cost by implementing test automation. In recent years, test automation becomes a frequent topic of discussion, it’s really important for the testing community and companies to invest time and money to get this feature implemented to their current test practices.

I have varied experience across multiple enterprise projects across Banking , Insurance , government sectors , Health Care, CRM to name a few I keenly follow the latest technology available and put them in to practice for solving business problems. I frequently attend Hackathons ,conferences and other knowledge sharing events both to gain knowledge and share my experience among people.

In this session we will look at serverless as a design technique. We will start with identifying serverless from the perspective of shared responsibility. Later, different serverless technologies will be identified. We will then concentrate on an IoT system which combines greengrass, IoT core, appsync, s3, cloudfront, lambda, and cognito. We will show how we can take serverless as a design technique. I hope to give you a different perspective of serverless for your own projects.

Daghan has received his PhD from The University of Melbourne from the Department of Information Systems. He has worked in different industries from embedded software to network routers, IoT to financial system. He is currently working at Vanguard as tech lead. His interests lies in big data, AI, cloud computing, software engineering and serverless technologies.
