Overview of the event

Day 1 : Non Functional Testing Summit :
As the demand for higher quality has grown in the software industry, so has the need to focus on all attributes of the software contributing to its overall quality. With growing demand and expertise in software areas like Performance, Load, Security, Usability and Interoperability, software testing has expanded much beyond functional testing alone. Non Functional Testing is aimed at "how well" a system performs its intended functions. It goes beyond ‘functionality’ and focuses on ‘abilities’ of the system. To cater to these growing needs of the software testing community, we are bringing this Non-Functional Testing Summit to your city where you will hear industry experts and understand the latest trends on non-functional testing.

Day 2 : Agile Testing and Test Automation Summit 2017
Agile Testing and Test Automation Summit 2017 will be happening in Singapore on June 15th, 2017, with focus on Technical Sessions featuring over 7+ Presentations exploring the depth and breadth of Agile software development and Test Automation across all practices, and perspectives. The Summit will be a key meeting place for Test Professionals and Executives from leading IT organizations. The event features an inspiring day of talks and workshops by professional speakers focused on Agile Testing and Test Automation Innovation.

The discussion in the Summit will be on what are the key challenges to improve your strategy, team development, test professional-skills , agile testing challenges and Test Automation implementation.

Day 3 : Applied Agile Testing Workshop
Overview : Applied Agile Testing workshop is a much needed technical workshop for agile enthusiasts who want to learn hands-on using the tool and techniques of the new age agile software engineering practices. The workshop is a combination of theory (30%) mixed with practical based learning (70%), focussing specifically on bringing agile mind set and pace to testers working in agile projects, with deep understanding of the processes and needs with hands-on testing. The tools used during the workshop are easily replaced by your own favourite tool as long as you follow the principles.

Who should attend : Software Engineers, Software testers, QA , Test leaders, Test managers, Automation or Manual Testers, Technical Project Managers, or any agile team members involved in software development or testing who are introducing or working in agile, introducing continuous delivery to improve the time to market while reducing cost and improving quality.

Day 1

Non Functional Testing Summit, Singapore - Expected Agenda (Speakers topic will be different) and final agenda will be ready by May 5.

X Topic Abstract

It all started with a project kick off and an innocent request for “doing some performance/load testing for the project”. This session will explain why, especially for situations where Non Functional testing is required, why load and stress testing often falls short? You need to throw away traditional non functional test processes (=Revolution) and then improve the new process constantly (=Evolution). Usually, it is not possible to have a full scale revolution at once, however this session will guide through load modeling theory that can provide a different approach which allows load, performance and latency test to add real value to the project. Stakeholders and test managers can use the best practices to handle the coverage and depth of the non functional tests. One important aspect was the focus on a scalability, reliability of system which is best described as "Patterns of Non functional test for everyone". At the end of the presentation we share our hard-earned insights regarding the things which worked out or did not work out so well.

Learning Objective:
Challenges faced in Big project while conducting non functional test
Learn different types of non functional test which has been implemented
Learn the benefits of implementing Non functional testing
Be introduced to new paradigms to achieve reliability through non functional test

X Topic Abstract

In Today's Agile world, the pace at which a product is delivered to customer is very fast compared to our older methodologies. Especially in banking domain, there is an utmost need for all the banks to deliver the products faster to the markets to attract more customers. Also, there is an additional challenge of implementing Agile methodologies in the projects due to sub system and Vendor dependencies.

In this kind of competitive and challenging environment, the scope of Performance/Load testing and its subsequent phase have gained more importance. Performing proper Load/Performance testing is becoming tough because of time, budget and Infra related constraints.

In this session, we will be discussing about the below topics to address the need for proper load testing:

- Load testing and its importance.
- Different phases of a Performance/Load Testing
- Challenges faced by Banks to perform Load Testing in Agile Environment
- Process to be implemented to Perform Load Testing in an Agile based environment
- Parameters and factors to be considered for a proper load testing

X Topic Abstract

Everyone knows that software security is very important, but usually the important things are not given that importance or treated as priority in the software industry. We are not sure of this attitude from product owners, managers, testers towards security testing. Millions of web applications, mobile apps and other software platforms; and yet no appropriate security standards in place. The fight has been ON for long years to change this attitude. Alas! the change is very slow. One of the way the change can be accommodated is by learning to test for security and spread the awareness of security testing to product owners, testers, sales, marketing folks and everyone involved in the team who are going to build something great for their customers.

Santhosh Tuppad is going to speak about the state of the security testing industry and also show some demonstration of his hacks (ethical) and also mention about how participants / audience can kickstart their security testing from basics to advanced. Santhosh will be there to help people connect with security testing in simple terms.

Day 2

Agile Testing Test Automation, Singapore - Expected Agenda (Speakers topic will be different) and final agenda will be ready by May 5.

X Topic Abstract

Everyone speaks about Agile, but no one really cares about it? Agile is a buzz word and everyone wants to be agile. But, have we really thought about the attributes that makes a person a real agile player? Human values have always played a bigger role in success of anything on this planet. Well, human values have decreased eventually and nowadays they are faked to an extent for the benefits of an individual. As we are in business, its not about an individual here; but team members. Having human values across the team can help project move faster and it can be made sure that it is delivered in a better way for the success of the company.

Santhosh Tuppad is going to speak about building trust, kindness, efficient communication with the team members while making progress on the project. Santhosh is going to share some of his experiences where he saw great progress in the project when he applied human values to be the highest priority.

X Topic Abstract

The session will help you understand Scrum framework, its roles and the expectations from a tester in a Scrum Team.

As the Scrum guide says that it does not recognize any other title for the development team members than Developer, nor does it recognizes any sub-teams in the development team then the questions many have are, how does an individual with testing skills fit in a Scrum Team? What do the testers do in a Scrum Team? What is each role in Scrum Team responsible for?

This session will attempt to answer such questions and would further clarify the roles and responsibilities of each role in Scrum through the use of a puzzle game.

X Topic Abstract

Effective quality assurance/ software testing adds critical value to a project providing clarity to project's purpose & plan and carry out execution effectively. QA/Test managers typically want to deliver project with productivity metrics while management may want to see time to market that support customer or user satisfaction or Return on Investment (ROI) initiatives. Many organizations are myopic on the primary objective of velocity. However, velocity means miniature without quality. “Continuous integration” has created a strong push in the market to apply new tools and techniques to support faster, leaner test automation earlier in the SDLC. While this is an important and logical step in the evolution of test automation, it causes many organizations to lose sight of the still critical regression phase of testing. Author will provide a continuous automation strategy that supports organization’s culture, resources and budget by implementing continuous integration in agile way.

X Topic Abstract

Technology innovations have enabled creation of automated specifications. This session will showcase how we can use technology to execute specifications aka User Stories allowing us to obtain early and continuous feedback of our product. The discussion would include different styles of user story formats (AS A...I WANT...SO THAT / IN ORDER TO...AS A...I WANT). Further, it would demonstrate SpecFlow, a popular tool within the Microsoft community for functional automation. This kind of automation will result in improved customer experience and better product quality.

X Topic Abstract

Test automation today is synonymous with Selenium or Appium or other UI testing tools. Focusing primarily on end to end tests can lead to a large number of tests and a maintainability nightmare which can result in a lot effort without delivering the expected results. I would like to share my experience with building large automation suites and an approach of distributing tests across layers that increases success to test automation and testing in general in a team.
